Meet Chef Christina Ng

>> Owner, Chinitas Pies

How long have you been cooking?

I’ve been cooking for 12 years and started Chinitas Pies as a small pie offering for a coffee cart. With the encouragement of friends and family, I began taking orders for pies for special occasions and it has blossomed from there!

What is your cooking style?

Thoughtful sourcing is the foundation of my cooking style, allowing for a wonderful palette of ever changing ingredients as each season passes. I’m a firm believer in supporting local growers and purveyors and integrating ingredients raised ethically and humanely.

What made you pursue a career feeding people?

The feeling of providing and bringing warmth and community via a lovingly cooked meal is irresistible. To be able to share and educate through my cooking is a true passion of mine.

What do you love to cook at home?

I love baking naturally leavened sourdough breads and baked goods. I'm thankful to celebrate the hard-work and dedication of our farming community in my kitchen.

What is your favorite restaurant in San Diego?

Herb and Eatery is my number 1 go to.

If you were a piece of produce, what would you be?

Definitely the Mangosteen; semi hardened skin with a sweet, zesty fruit inside.
